Wilk Auslander is proud to announce that Jonathan Bender and Michael Sobel have been elected partners of the firm.
Jonathan K. Bender is a corporate lawyer with a concentration in securities matters and mergers and acquisitions. His clients include investment banks, hedge funds, family businesses, and high-net-worth individuals. He also serves as outside general counsel for businesses in a wide range of industries. Jonathan's securities work focuses on representing issuers and investors in private placements, PIPEs, and exempt transactions. He also advises clients in connection with their 1934 reporting obligations.
As a corporate lawyer, Jonathan also has experience in mergers and acquisitions, and has represented purchasers and sellers in various types of transactions. As outside corporate counsel, he works closely with management and advises his clients on numerous aspects of their business operations. Jonathan is actively involved with Temple Israel Center of White Plains, and serves as a member of its Board of Trustees. He received a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1993 and a B.A. from Yale University in 1988.
Michael Sobel is a commercial real estate lawyer whose practice includes the representation of developers, owners, operators, managers, and tenants in a broad range of transactions. He concentrates on the representation of landlords and tenants in retail, office, and mixed-use commercial leasing transactions, and buyers and sellers in the acquisition and sale of office and retail properties. Michael represents major local and national developers, owner/operators, a national chain fitness center, national hotel groups, high-end design companies, local business owners, foreign corporations with national real estate portfolios, and financial institutions with nationwide retail locations. Michael received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2002, and his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University in 1997. He joined the firm in 2007.
Michael has recently represented a prominent New York City developer in the leasing of office space in Downtown Manhattan to four new full floor tenants (52,000+ square feet), including a premier architectural firm, a global leader in conflict management, a nationally known mutual life insurance company and one of New York’s largest human services agencies. Lately, on behalf of a national chain fitness center he has completed leases for two new gym locations in New York City. He has also represented a Midtown Manhattan hotel in the leasing of two retail stores to a cosmetic company and a boutique coffee house.
